It's unexpected enough that it shifts Jim's thoughts off his problems and the growing embarrassment that he's been caught keeping secrets from his friends, at least for the moment, and after a moment's surprised hesitation, he lifts his arms to wrap them around Hunter too. "I've never been hugged very much," he says, his voice slightly muffled against Hunter's shoulder. And then, because Hunter spoke, he adds, "I might've told you some of it eventually."
